A luxurious lodge with a sunken hot tub on extended, fully enclosed decking, set within 170 acres of landscaped grounds and woodland at Stewarts Resort, three and a half miles from St Andrews. Sleeping up to six across a king-size master, a twin and a versatile snug, with an island kitchen and high-speed Starlink internet throughout. The enclosed deck makes it a genuinely easy lodge for young children and dogs, and guests have free use of the resort’s health spa, gym, sauna and steam room.
Inside
The layout is what makes this lodge work. Open-plan kitchen, dining and living space with beautifully crafted furniture and characterful details throughout, and a snug set to the side of the lounge that can be closed off — an office, a den for quiet time, somewhere for the children, or a third bedroom when you need one.
There’s an electric fire for cooler evenings, a television, and Starlink high-speed internet throughout the lodge. That last point matters more than it sounds: rural Fife is not always well served by conventional broadband, and Starlink means you can stream properly in the evening, take a video call without apologising for the connection, and genuinely work from the snug for a few days if you want to extend a trip.
The kitchen is a proper one — an island, a freestanding American-style fridge freezer, and an open layout that keeps whoever’s cooking part of the evening rather than shut away from it. Alongside the oven, hob and microwave there’s a deep fat fryer and a coffee machine, so chips with the day’s catch from Pittenweem and a decent morning coffee are both sorted without leaving the lodge.
Sleeping
King-size master bedroom with en-suite walk-in shower
Twin bedroom, which can be arranged as a double on request — please ask when booking
Snug with a double sofa bed, suitable for one adult or two children
Family bathroom off the hallway, with a bath and overhead shower
Bed linen and towels are provided for the bedrooms. Extra linen for the sofa bed is available for an additional fee. Please bring your own towels for the hot tub.
Outside
The decking here has been extended, with the hot tub sunk into it for privacy, and the whole area is fully enclosed — safe for young children and somewhere your dog can be off the lead while you sit out. It’s a proper outdoor room rather than a strip of deck with a tub on it, and it’s the reason guests tend to rebook this particular lodge.
Private parking for two cars at the lodge, with additional parking next to the main building if you need it. EV charging points available on the resort.
Where you are
Stewarts Resort sits in over 170 acres of landscaped grounds and woodland, with walks leading down to Cameron Reservoir on a designated footpath from the resort.
If you like eating and drinking well on holiday, this corner of Fife delivers more than its size suggests. St Andrews, three and a half miles away, has a genuine food scene — seafood, small bistros, farm shops on the edge of town and better coffee than a town of 18,000 has any right to. Kingsbarns Distillery is a short drive down the coast and does a good tour. Anstruther is where you go for fish and chips by the harbor, Crail has a lobster hut on the harbor wall through the summer, and Pittenweem lands its catch daily — worth buying something fresh and cooking it back at the lodge.
Beyond that, the usual draws: the Old Course and the St Andrews links, the cathedral and castle ruins, and two miles of beach at West Sands. Edinburgh is around an hour and a half by car or train.
Good to know
Check-in from 4pm, check-out by 10am. Up to two small dogs are welcome, with a supplement. The lodge is non-smoking inside; smoking is permitted outside, and we’d ask you to dispose of cigarette ends responsibly. Parking is for two cars at the lodge; any additional vehicles can use the parking next to the main building. Please charge electric vehicles at the commercial charging points on the resort rather than from the lodge’s own supply. Glass tumblers and bottles aren’t allowed in the hot tub, so please use plastic. There is a strict no-noise policy after 10pm, so please be considerate of your neighbors. A damages deposit is pre-authorized before arrival and released 72 hours after departure, provided no damage has been caused.
